Cinnamon Fern & Jewelweed
Photograph info: This photograph was taken a couple of weekends ago on a hike along the Lehigh River in neighboring Williams Township, about ten minutes from Durham Township. Cinnamon fern is a common understory plant in Pennsylvania. Jewelweed is related to the annual impatiens plant you see in multi-packs at garden stores and nurseries. In folk medicine, jewelweed is considered a useful treatment for poison ivy rashes; it often (conveniently!) grows alongside poison ivy vines, provided the soil is moist. The "humongous" version is full of gorgeous detail. Camera settings and post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D Mark II Thank you for visiting Durham Township! --Kathleen Comments
The composition is very good. This photo wouldn't have the same without the person in picture. The green is so green :) I like it. Posted by Tero on May 29, 2009 3:23 PMTero is right, the composition is very good. And the person in the background really makes the photo. Along the forest path he wanders Stunning shades of green all over this image. Such a strong work here... Posted by Mirko Herzner on May 30, 2009 8:20 AMLove those super saturated greens, colours like that occur here only rarely. Posted by ROB on May 30, 2009 9:44 AMwow Gorgeous ferns! I love the contrast you captured here. I've walked thru plenty of Pa forests and I can almost imagine being there when I view this photo! Great work!
