Melting Snow

Photograph info: This photo was taken a week ago - kind of hard to believe. It now seems like spring is well on its way with crocus and snowdrops blooming everywhere, and not a trace (or thought!) of snow left behind.

Camera settings and post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D Mark II and the Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens with circular polarizing filter at 17mm, ISO 200, f/10, 1/500s. Curves adjustments.

Thank you for visiting Durham Township!

Sky so blue,
Field so wide.
Passerby is caught
In the middle of his stride.
White of the snow,
Brown of the dormant field.
Spring is on the advance,
Winter soon will yield.

I love how the feeling of motion towards the horizon is created not only by the moving figure (a boy?) but with the lines in the snow and the traces in the sky as well - it gives a sort of powerful dynamic to the scene, makes you feel the movement. :)

What an artfully arranged collection of receding lines (on earth as it is in heaven) --all the more emphasized by the hasty pilgrim's long cold journey across a barren landscape. For some reason, I feel the scene only lacks for a drooping clock on a stick.....or some geese....or a dog......or

I posted a photo of ice on my site over a week ago and bid farewell to winter only to have it snow here in southeastern Delaware this evening. When will it ever end? Very soon I hope, so we can shoot green!

This smaller version is beautiful enough but when the larger version is put on....Voila. Seems like someone is aiming a pointer at all the lines and showing us the magnificence of it all.

The sky is just beautiful with all those intersecting contrails and clouds. Nice action. At first I thought he was on cross country skis from his stance, but then I realized he is running.
