Sunday Road, Berks County, 5:00 p.m.
Photograph info: This photograph was taken last Sunday in Berks County on the way home from an Appalachian Trail hike. Although it had been warm and a little rainy most of the day, the wind kicked up, the temperature dropped and the sky cleared around sunset. An excellent photographer once told me that at sunset, the best photo is in the opposite direction. Thank you for visiting Durham Township! --Kathleen Comments
Oooo, great land-shape and such a nice dramatic sky to top it off! Just your style, and a surprisingly warm image for a cool evening out. There are several south-of-Nampa spots I favor for shooting sunrise/sunsets. The peaks above Boise are eastward and the Owyhee Mountians are to the west. It is often a toss-up whether to position for sunburst/back-lite shadows or go for the glow on the ground that happens when a low sun is over the shoulder. Excellent choice here, young lady. (But you knew that!) Thanks for warming up my 21 degree Sunday evening. The sky is amazing! Posted by Tero on January 5, 2009 1:14 AMThe colors you caught reflected in the clouds are just so beautiful. I love the warm light on the landscape. Posted by Laurie on January 5, 2009 1:17 AMGreat landscape...I like very much the warm tones about field and sky! Ciao :-) Posted by Simone on January 5, 2009 3:02 AMUndulating hills catch the fading light Such a gorgeous landscape! Love the golden tones of the fields and the colours of the sky! Great work! Posted by Giovanni on January 5, 2009 8:47 AMWonderful red glow - this sky/sunset light combination works great here. Posted by Markus Spring on January 5, 2009 10:27 AMYou have some of the best landscape images found online. Congratulations on winning the best photoblog award 2008. Its well deserved. Posted by Wolfgang on January 5, 2009 1:31 PMParece que un huracan se avecina, la foto es simplemente soberbia. Posted by lord vader on January 6, 2009 12:32 AMI wish I had opportunities for open skies like that. There are so many hills and mountains in western Washington that horizon just doesn't reach that far. Beautiful color Kathleen. Posted by Mike on January 6, 2009 2:45 AMMy favorite type of photograph. Big sky, gorgeous colours and bags of mood. Posted by peter on January 6, 2009 2:47 AMI love my 5d- such incredible color out of the camera. This is a beautiful picture- fantastic work to really get the most out of it. Posted by Jarrard on January 6, 2009 8:14 PMInteresting point about the best picture being in the opposite direction. I must remember to check that out on my next sunset shoot. Gorgeous glow in the clouds and lovely warm hue in the field. Great feeling of space too. Posted by gavin hart on January 7, 2009 5:27 AMAwesome. Maybe there's something to that bit of advice. I wish I could find a landscape this uncluttered where I live. Posted by Alvis on January 7, 2009 11:20 AMFabulous. Love the red reflecting on the meadow. Posted by Anita Bower on January 7, 2009 11:37 AMI like this shot a lot and it makes me miss those perfect winter skys from PA. I had a few nice ones while back home for the Holidays. The grass here is so soft and lush, it really works well with the sky. JUST PERFECT - well done. rob - Posted by rob on January 7, 2009 5:15 PMTrès belle image, les couleurs à ce moment y sont pour beaucoup. A mon sens, il manque un sujet au premier plan Posted by ben on January 8, 2009 4:21 AMOne of the best images I have seen recently! Superb colors, and the composition is just awesome! Posted by Abhijit Dharmadhikari on January 8, 2009 11:39 AMI thought for sure you had post-processed for those foreground colors. Absolutely amazing photo, gorgeous! Posted by Dave Bockman on January 9, 2009 7:54 AMRolling thoughts, rolling hills, the clouds swirl above. You will find your peace and your place in this world, when all you have is love. Posted by Willow on January 10, 2009 10:55 AMIt sure is the most charming sunset I have seen so far. So grand! Posted by china landscape on January 12, 2009 7:02 AMThis photo is breathtaking. It makes me homesick for Illinois' open landscapes and sunsets that turn the clouds into fairylands. Posted by Jac-Key on January 14, 2009 3:31 PMwow... I'm in love with this. Posted by Demilliac on January 20, 2009 8:09 AMbeautiful landscape, great colors, even more impressive knowing that it doesn't have post-processing. cheers from Portugal Posted by André Bergonse on February 7, 2009 1:42 PMSpeak!
