Gingerbread Cottage
Photograph info: These photographs were taken at the beginning of December. We made this gingerbread cottage as an 8th grade German language class assignment and our commitment was to make everything edible. (Not that I'd eat it!) It took approximately 15 hours to build & decorate. The gingerbread and five pounds of royal icing were made from scratch, and many different candies & sweets were used for the details: non-pareils for the roof & walkway, red rope licorice for the door & garland, ice cream cones for the trees, caramels for the chimney, gum drops & pretzels for the wreath & windows, marshmallows & chocolate for the snowman, a graham cracker for the "Wilkommen" mat. Everything is held together with royal icing. Thank you, as usual! Posted by david tinnon on December 16, 2008 3:03 AMI can say our ginger bread cottages doesn't look that nice and detailed. Beautiful. Posted by Frida on December 16, 2008 4:16 AMWhen my kids were little they loved to make Gingerbread houses. I always had to have some extra candies because they somehow would magically disappear! They aren't so into making them anymore. Oh well. These are really pretty. The color is so very wonderful. Posted by Laurie on December 16, 2008 8:25 AMOh, this is just beautiful and makes me want to run and make one too. Well, maybe...well, maybe not. Too much work! Posted by Brian Chen on December 17, 2008 8:58 AM Lovely! I like the 2nd shot especially. One tiny problem though? I save your pics to use as desktop/backgrounds for my computer. I can't save anymore! I promise I don't use them for any other reason. Any way of doing this now? Posted by Marta on December 18, 2008 4:19 PMOur home is where we feel safe. It is a place of spiritual comfort. A place where you change your clothes and your attitude. A place to relax and enjoy the company of loved ones. A place that nourishes the soul. Enjoy the feast!
