Maple Leaves & Fishermen, Delaware River at Dawn
Photograph info: This photograph was taken a month ago today. Amazing how things change so quickly - there isn't a leaf left on those trees right now. This was taken the same morning as this photo. Camera settings and post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D --Kathleen Comments
Again I can't get my eyes off this! The perspective you've chosen couldn't be better and the DoF is really charming. Very fancy image, well done! Posted by eyeswideopened on November 20, 2008 1:44 AMBeautiful. I love the shallow dof. It was a very creative idea to put the plane of focus to the foreground. Posted by yz on November 20, 2008 1:52 AMNice colors and composition. The leaves on foreground makes this one special. Posted by Tero on November 20, 2008 2:45 AMGreat composition and I love the colors. Posted by Frida on November 20, 2008 3:50 AMI love the fog and the colours of the tree. The focus is very nice too. Posted by Laura on November 20, 2008 5:21 AMThe focused foreground and blurred people in background in this shot and the soybean field image of the other day communicates a much more compelling/moody image than if you'd made the much more common choice to focus on the people. I love your blog and always learn a lot from it. Thanks. Posted by Mindy on November 20, 2008 7:27 AMwhat a beautiful place and picture, congrats! Posted by ignacio on November 20, 2008 8:55 AMI do love how you chose to focus on the leaves on the river in the foreground here. This is a very subtle and beautiful photo. Posted by Laurie on November 20, 2008 9:11 AMReally nice - I have made reference to this image on my blog. regards Posted by flyfishertc on November 20, 2008 2:01 PMWish I were there! Posted by Neuroknitter on November 20, 2008 2:51 PMThree folks sharing the river, the sunrise is an added perk. Gotta get an early start if you want to catch your limit of paper finned leaf fish! Posted by david tinnon on November 20, 2008 10:55 PMStunning autumnal image. Love the distant mist..the colors..the composition. Excellent. Posted by Marcie on November 21, 2008 8:07 AMBeautiful picture ! I really miss those landscapes... Posted by jotabe on November 21, 2008 9:41 AMBeautiful colours and love the misty lake! Stunning image Kathleen! Posted by Craig Wilson on November 21, 2008 11:22 AMSimply beautiful. As an avid fisherman and photographer, I can relate. Posted by ilovephotoblogs on November 21, 2008 1:19 PMlovely image...beautiful colors...nice use of DOF! Posted by Abhijit on November 22, 2008 4:51 AMNice colors and composition! Posted by Thomas Winzer on November 22, 2008 10:22 AM"The Brief History of the Dead" by Kevin Brockmeier. That's what this one makes me think of. (And I love the novel.) Posted by Marta on November 23, 2008 1:38 AMA dreamy vista and one that takes my breath away! The mist did it for me. Posted by Deepcut on November 23, 2008 5:06 AMFantastic. The fog coming off the water is lovely and the foreground detail on the leaves is great. Posted by KJ on November 24, 2008 10:44 AMBeautiful image here - lovely tonal range Posted by LwS on December 3, 2008 4:20 AMI stand corrected, these are actually Maple Leaf Bass. Top feeders who don't put up much of a fight......but I hear that they are great if dried and smoked. (The guys in the boat have probably smoked a few already.) Posted by david tinnon on December 3, 2008 11:56 PMWe get up before the crack of dawn! Check the weather for the 8th time! Our gear was loaded in the boat last night, the truck gassed up and the boat trailer hooked on with double chains! Hurry up! Can't loose any time this morning; the fish are probably biting already and somebody might steal our favorite fishing hole! With the cooler full of chicken, pretzels, beer and ice in the back seat, we grab our coffee in one hand, the neon orange car key floatie in the other, stick a sweet roll in our mouth, and balance our lucky fishing hat on our head, and rush down to the river! We get out on that water and we are once again free! Don't think about what you promised to be allowed to go! Mow the lawn? Not today! Take out the trash? Maybe, and then again, maybe not! Hang that picture? Sorry! Move the sofa? Only if I feel like it! Fishing brings out the man in us! We are the hunter gatherers with the latest and greatest equipment. New rods, new reels, spider wire and fish finder, trolling motor and stink bait! We don't want to hear about painting the girls room pink next weekend! Lets talk about cars, football and who can cast the farthest! Let's lie about the biggest fish we ever caught and not care if our buddy has heard the story 100 times! Truth be told, we don't care if we catch a fish or a cold, we just like to pretend we're in charge! Posted by Willow on December 24, 2008 12:36 AMthats a really good shot, your style and cinnamon has always been nice and warm colors. Nice playing with DOF here and, uhh.. that fog.. very nice work. I have been visiting this blog more than 3 years now I think.. No matter that you live like other side on earth from me :) Keep going Kathleen Posted by chemic on January 15, 2009 4:22 AMSpeak!
