Soybean Field

Photograph info: This photograph was taken several weeks ago, the same evening as the previous photo of walnuts. The soybeans have since been harvested; they'll be fed to dairy cows over the winter and spring months.

Camera settings and post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D and the Canon 85mm f/1.2L lens at f/2, 1/1250s, ISO 100. Curves, color balancing.

Thank you for visiting Durham Township!

Browns and yellows, two colors of fall
The beans are ripe, the harvest does call.
But who is that standing there sharing a touch?
Is it ET and friend who have been through so much?
Thank you for taking the time to compose
This picture that gives me a moments repose.

I love the golden backlight and the luminosity of the soybeans and leaves. The people in the background add a nice human touch to this image. Beautifully done, as usual.

So beautiful!

Yes Jon, I think it is ET, back lite by the "mothership" while explaining the crop circle code to a local. And who more likely to record the event and "conveniently" release the photo after the circle evidence has been destroyed by those "*harvesters in black," than that Connally woman? Go figure.

*The government's Alien Connections Evidence Management Team (ACEMT) often paint their Evidence Eradication Devices (EEDs) bright red or even yellow and green to avoid attracting attention,(AAA) but we know, (BWK.)

Perhaps Kathleen should go on Coast to Coast and explain just how she manages to get these shots anyway.

Oh, and thanks Kathleen for another great adventure in the Durham Township Dimension.

The silhouettes in the background really make this photo work. Nice one.

The story goes something like this....."I'm serious, these little beans are a great form of nutrition! Best part is, they taste better than meat and they are really good for you and the environment! We can produce soy medicines, soy milk and soy bread, and we can season soy to taste like beef and chicken and pork and fish! We can make soy sandals, soy purses, soy curtains and soy upholstery! And just think of all the methane gases that we can eliminate by not producing so many cows! We can keep the planet safe and still enjoy what we are eating and wearing!" As the potential convert walks away, the teacher cries out "Wait...I'm not finished! Where are you going?" The convert turns and says "all this talk has made me hungry; I'm going for a cheese burger, want one?"

The focus and lights are fantastic. :)

what light! such a beautiful narrative unfolds with the kids in the background of this field. a seemingly ordinary photo transformed because of the silhouettes of the 2 kids sharing some childhood secret. really beautiful and poetic.
