Cumulonimbus Cloud (with Rainbow)

PHOTOGRAPH INFO

I was working at my desk around 5:30 p.m. when Jenn (my niece, sometimes employee & sometimes model) came running into the house yelling "RAINBOWS!" at the top of her lungs.

I looked out the front window and saw two huge rainbows behind a group of trees. I grabbed the camera and asked Jenn to drive me to a clearing down the road. By the time we got there (despite Jenn's expert driving!) there was just a small portion of one rainbow left, but the storm cloud from which the rainbows seemed to form had gotten a whole lot larger!

Check out the larger version of this photo for more detail.

Camera settings and post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D and the Canon EF 17-40mm f/4Llens with circular polarizing filter at 17mm, ISO 125, shutter speed 1/160s, aperture f/18. Curves adjustments, color balancing.

Thank you for visiting Durham Township!
