Apples

PHOTOGRAPH INFO

This photo was taken on Sunday evening during a small break in a four-day Nor'easter rainstorm.

(The skies were scheduled to clear up in time for work on Monday morning. :) )

Camera settings and post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D and the Canon 85mm f/1.2L lens at f/1.2, 1/5000s, ISO 200. Curves, color balancing. The bokeh (or blurry background) is from using this lens at its widest aperture.

Thank you for visiting Durham Township!

Wish one of these apples was sitting on my table!
They look so real and delicious. It would be hard
to capture this in a painting.

Simply gorgeous. Is this a new lens or a rental? It's stunning.

Since April 24th I've waited for this shot
A summer's worth of anticipation, final beauty now begot.
Dangling orbs of potential to be picked very soon
Enjoyed right from the tree or cooked and eaten with a spoon.
So whether it's raw, stewed, baked or sqeezed by some brute
This will always be a most versatile fruit.

This is exactly like my orchard in my backyard. Love it. It's home for me.

I just love the colors in this photo. And your apples are looking a lot healthier than ours this year. :)

I love the narrow depth of field, wonderful capture.

Wonderful! They are just about right I suspect. The bokeh truely is beautiful. Nice work :)

Beautifully focussed and a 'cool' autumnal feel.

From one Kathleen to another...

Very nice shot!

It is mind numbing to believe that all of the wars and pestilence, famine and floods, goodness and grace, have been the result of a woman waking up without a real breakfast plan.

I love the colors. Beautiful DOF.

Long time admirer, first time commenter.

Autumn is my favourite season, and like a previous commenter said, you've managed to capture both its colour and its fading glory. I love it.

Wonderful and vivid colors here, like specially the soft background

Great use of narrow depth of field, a truely stuning picture, and a talented piece of work.

Good craftmanship. Did you enhance the greens?

Posted by flyfishertc on October 4, 2008 12:06 PM

Willow, (O.K., I'll bite.) Eve of Destruction? Or "best laid plans of the gods and men gang aft a-gley?"

Perhaps just Kathleen's way of starting a new chapter, (A 2nd Genesis,) under add-verse conditions?

Speaking of chapters, Kathleen, I got a laugh recently to learn that one of my favorite authors, James Michener, was a member the Bucks County Illuminate. So your in good company--but we knew that.

Jarrard: I've owned this lens for about two years now. It's my favorite.

flyfishertc: There's no specific change to the greens - I use the curves tool to boost contrast and saturation to the entire image, and the color balance tool for overall toning.

Beautiful image here - love the depth of field you've used, which does result in a satisfying bokeh
