Portrait of Jenn, Port Java, Port Jervis
PHOTOGRAPH INFO This photo was taken over the weekend in Port Jervis, New York, which is smack dab on the border between New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Port Java is a fantastic coffee house on Front Street. We were returning from New Paltz, New York, where I photographed the wedding of Ray Mancini and Lina Fenequito, owners of Good World Media in Brooklyn, New York. (Great website, check it out.) It was a gorgeous wedding -- Ray & Lina were a delight to work for. The reception was held in Poughkeepsie at Locust Grove, the estate of Samuel Morse (of Morse Code fame). If you're ever in that neighborhood you simply must see it. It's a national treasure (and a National Historic Landmark). Thanks to Jenn for assisting with the wedding photography, and for driving home! :) Camera settings and post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D Thank you for visiting Durham Township! -- Kathleen Comments
Beautiful colours, very warm and cosy and Jenn I must say is looking very radiant. If it wasn't for the modern clothing I think this image wouldn't look amiss in the 1950's Posted by Aaron on June 23, 2008 4:46 AMThis one's exactly like the songs by Sade: warm, with an old-fashioned touch and a beautiful woman in the foreground. Posted by Marta on June 23, 2008 6:14 AMLike most excellent photos, it's really hard to say exactly what it is about this one that I like so much. It's not just composition. It's not just lighting. It's not just anything. It's everything. Thanks for all the great work. Please keep going! Posted by Brian Baldridge on June 23, 2008 6:32 AMA break from the drive, this moment now seized Lovely picture. I like the way the girl is arranged with the background so there is no confusion, nice work! Posted by yz on June 23, 2008 8:25 AMBeautiful. Great effect from the chair slats in the foreground. Beautiful expression and tones, but the angle is killing my neck--if not her's........sore neck and all, it's my favorite shot of Jenn (and tonic?) Talk about "find light and put 'em in it". This is superb. Posted by ROB on June 24, 2008 7:00 AMJenn: A woman with a knowing smile! She looks like the cat that ate the canary! One mystery solved yet another to take its place. How long until the intrepid detective solves this one? Posted by Willow on June 24, 2008 11:15 AMi like so much your art.. Posted by ody on June 24, 2008 6:12 PMgreat shot! Candid, or were you just making sure we could read the type?....got anything for neck pain? ....mine, not her's.... Posted by david tinnon on June 26, 2008 2:19 AMOoooh ..... Posted by imagina on June 27, 2008 5:19 AMThe warmth of this one is wonderful. That place looks so inviting and they should buy this photo from you for an ad. The light is beautiful! Posted by Laurie on July 3, 2008 11:21 PMGreat natural smile. Good everyday photo!! Posted by Mads Eneqvist on July 7, 2008 6:22 AMBeautiful portrait of a beautiful woman Posted by LwS on July 16, 2008 6:47 AMreally superb. everything, light, frame, composition and elements are so well placed in the frame and create a nice set to make your lively model pose in. Great work ! Posted by looking4poetry on July 20, 2008 6:42 AMA beautiful photograph of a beautiful lady wearing a beautiful smile. Maybe the the plastic glass with the straw in it could have been done away with. In spite of it, a nice photograph! :) Posted by kvaibhav on August 24, 2008 6:07 AMSpeak!
