Crown of Oxeye Daisy (Leucanthemum vulgare)

PHOTOGRAPH INFO

This photo was taken on Wednesday.

Oxeye Daisy is a common wildflower in Pennsylvania. It was originally introduced by European settlers and escaped cultivation to become one of the most familiar roadside weeds across the U.S.

Oxeye Daisy is listed as a noxious weed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture because it competes with and crowds out native wildflowers.

Camera settings and post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D and the Canon 85mm f/1.2L lens at f/1.2, 1/5000s, ISO 200. Curves adjustments and color balancing, then converted to LAB Color.

Thank you for visiting Durham Township!

What land is this with an emerald sky,
where crowns are made of weeds?
A sight to be seen by Oxeye,
as she bends to plant the seeds.

Beautiful shot! The shallow dof enhances the flowers and also gives the girl some kind of 'little princess' feel.

Great colors and choice of DOF. It has such a 'spring' feeling to it. Almost makes me forget the terrible weather we're having at the moment.

That 85mm lens at f1.2 is beautiful! It really blurs the background but keeps the colours wonderfully saturated. Lovely image Kathleen.

Reminds me of a baby jesus! if he were a woman, and a caucasian, and those were thorns, and had long hair. haha jk, but really, great exposure on this one, i very much like your choices of focus too.

Beauty is woman, this one in blue
What Willow commented yesterday about men is so true.
Beauty is nature, woven, set on her head
Causing guys to worship the ground on which she does tread.
So whether in focus or in mystery it should be no gaff
She should be honored to be called a man's
"better half."

Simply gorgeous. I'm sorry I'm not much of a poet, like many of the other commenters I see around here... But I can tell you that I love the contrast of green, blue, yellow, and white, and the sheer beauty of each perfectly placed flower.

This is beautiful, Kathleen.

Whether she is your wife, your daughter, your lover or your friend, she wants to be the Princess in your heart and the Queen in your dreams. Her desires are to be special, to be unique, to be beautiful in your eyes. She wants you to rescue her, to protect her, to respect her and to honor her. She wants you to take the time to listen to her, to appreciate her for who she is. Place her on that pedestal, seat her on that throne and show her that you love her, for she is as fragile as the crown that she wears.

Cherish her, for she is you.

I like the double crown--the one on her head and the one made of out of focus flowers above her.

I've been away from the blogs lately and I am just trying to catch up. What treats I get to see here!

This is simple and lovely. It's unique as is your style. Beautiful.
