Cumulonimbus Cloud (with Rainbow)
PHOTOGRAPH INFO I was working at my desk last Thursday evening around 5:30 p.m. when Jenn came running into the house yelling "RAINBOWS!" at the top of her lungs. I looked out the front window and saw two huge rainbows behind a group of trees. I grabbed the camera and asked Jenn to drive me to a clearing down the road. By the time we got there (despite Jenn's expert driving!) there was just a small portion of one rainbow left, but the storm cloud from which the rainbows seemed to form had gotten a whole lot larger! Check out the larger version of this photo for more detail. Camera settings and post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D Thank you for visiting Durham Township! -- Kathleen Comments
Heaven can wait, bring on them cumulonimbus! Jakey is handsome, Jenn is beautiful, cows are ever so pleasant, and I like tool rooms and farm equipment as much as the next guy, but yes ma'am, this is exactly what I'm talkin' 'bout! "The landscape as a state of mind!" ...and when I'm elected president, I'll see that this woman gets a license to shoot anything she pleases (Valid in all 57 states of course!).....and of course, dear lady, the is no seasonal limit on landscapes.....so fire away! Please! I think this would be a hit on this site! I actually said "Woah" out loud when I saw this. Great capture! Posted by kristarella on May 28, 2008 3:18 AMThat's one serious cloud! Hehe. I like the composition of this shot. Posted by suvir on May 28, 2008 3:20 AMBeautiful! I think it has to be happened like this. Good shot I am a sucker for landscapes and this didn't let me down. The saturation is great, and the rainbow is a nice little surprise. I was chasing a cumulonibus the other night, but it was gone by the time I got to it....great capture! Posted by Brett on May 28, 2008 3:59 PMWow, the cloud just eats that rainbow up. I love the scale of the shot. Including the field and the smaller clouds in the shot gives it a monstrous feel. Posted by James Dunn on May 28, 2008 4:23 PMwow! Amazing! I too uttered a "wow!" out loud. And I love that you have people running in shouting "Rainbows!" just so you can capture it. Awesome! Posted by Ian Bramham on May 30, 2008 7:15 PMBeautiful shot, but I don't think I would like to be the the way if this cloud came closer ;-) Posted by Claus on May 31, 2008 3:29 AMhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPg7bB70YjE "Big sky above me, a river inside me" Your works always bring good music. Spectacular cloud. It's like heaven dropped a giant cotton ball from the sky just so you could get this shot. How do you get such co-operation from the heavens? Posted by Laurie on May 31, 2008 9:53 AMIt comes, sweeping onward, gathering all those before it, using their combined and diverse energies to move inexorably to a better place. It is powerful yet yielding and can be influenced by the winds of change, yet we can find our "pot of gold" if we have the strength to follow it to the end. It's not luck that brings good fortune; it takes hard work, determination, and the willingness to do what is right for one and for mankind as a whole. Posted by Willow on June 1, 2008 8:38 PMThis picture, took my breath away. Now whenever I'm tired at work I come back and see it and I feel much better afterward. Thank you. Posted by Sogol on June 2, 2008 4:43 PMI think the cloud in your photo Lehnenberg Road may have been a UFO, which can camoflage themselves by generating fluffy white stuff. Re; Ed O'Mahony, a great take! Who needs crop circles, Durham has the Don King cloud? Posted by David Tinnon on June 7, 2008 5:36 PMvery nice capture, sell me print?
