Spring Hill, Between Rainstorms

PHOTOGRAPH INFO

We had wild March weather over the weekend - multiple storms with inches of rain and high winds caused flooding and downed power lines in the area.

I took this photo as one violent storm moved away and another moved in. In such dark conditions I should've used a tripod and cable release, but there was just enough time to grab the camera, run outdoors and fire off a dozen shots at high ISO -- hoping one wasn't blurry -- before sheets of rain started coming down again.

The result is a dark and noisy image but a nice memory of the evening. :)

(Because this image is so dark I recommend looking at it in a darkened room - you'll see a lot more detail that way.)

Camera settings and post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D and the Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L at 17mm, ISO 3200, 1/13s at f/4. Curves adjustments, color balancing, slight desaturation of reds and cyans.

Thank you for visiting Durham Township!

Great picture. Almost looks as though Charles Wysocki could have painted this one.

the dark and noise adds to the mystique of the image in my opinion.

Wow! Something about this shot whispers....
"The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" to me.
Love it.
