Flattened Hay Barn
PHOTOGRAPH INFO Another photograph from Virginia. This barn was at the corner of a three-way intersection of backroads. It's a nice old hay barn, well worth restoring -- the hand-hewn beams and timber siding date it to the 1800s. What finally knocked it down is anyone's guess! (The fallen wood appears dark in the photo but the barn was not burned.) Camera settings and post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D Thanks for visiting Durham Township! --Kathleen Comments
If only the fellow had possessed the presence of mind to install a crystal chandelier in the loft, the structure could have been protected from the detrimental effects of the power line resonance. I'm liking this ride, Kathleen. Posted by david tinnon on March 31, 2008 12:46 AMA place that stored horse and cow chow W Durham i Ostrolece takie samo slonce. I love the swooping form of the barn's fallen boards and the perspective created by the power lines and the clouds. Nice! Posted by luckypennies on March 31, 2008 6:24 PMThen there is that little storm, (sneaking off right-stage,) that could have done in the poor little old barn. Posted by david tinnon on March 31, 2008 7:48 PMi wonder what type of animal life now lives in that barn? Posted by cohnsey on March 31, 2008 8:59 PMhello from argentina! im just starting on photography, check my site if you have time :) regards! Posted by Ignacio Guerra on April 1, 2008 2:40 AMThis photo is amazing. When looking at the barn I think about the past and what is was used for. Also, I think about how long it has been there, since it seems that the power lines were placed after the barn. The colors are brilliant and beautiful. It is kind of interesting to see the storm to the left of the photo. It could be moving in, but it is interesting to think that maybe the storm is moving out. What if the storm was what flattened the barn? I love the line of power lines...it leads my eye to the back of the image just to see what is back there. Great photo. Posted by Erin on April 1, 2008 9:35 PMThe mood in this is really perfect. It has me thinking will what little is left standing of the barn be able to endure the storm? Or did it manage to endure yet one more? I guess you'll have to go back next year and let us see! Posted by Laurie on April 3, 2008 6:18 AMA mischievous storm Speak!
