Pocono Region Pipes & Drums Inside Sheila & Bob's House

PHOTOGRAPH INFO

My gracious and wonderful friends Shiela and Bob own a fantastic Bed & Breakfast in the town of Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, called The Gilded Cupid. A stay at their place is second to none! This photo was taken inside the Gilded Cupid last Sunday during the town's annual Celtic parade. (Much more detail in the larger version.)

The Pocono Region Pipes & Drums dropped by to whet their whistles and play a few tunes for everyone inside. I'm sure the decibel level in the house was significant!

The town of Jim Thorpe is a magnificent place, well worth visiting. It's located at the base of a steep valley carved by the Lehigh River and is surrounded by breathtaking Pocono mountain scenery. The town is full of outstanding 19th century architecture (the Gilded Cupid was built in 1860) and there's also a lot of great shops and restaurants. Go see! :)

Camera settings and post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D and the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L lens at 24mm, ISO 3200, f/2.8, 1/60s. Basic curves adjustment, color balancing.

Thanks for visiting Durham Township!

Three generations could it be
Dressed in kilts for all of us to see?
A blow on the pipes
A beat on the drum
Always room for one more in this B&B.

Is that the weights of a Black Forest Cookoo clock I spy on the wall?

Aaahhhh! The poet has said it all.
Interesting angle to get everyone in and so much to observe. You always were good with groups in your photos
Is that really you JPH or is it Davey Boy.

I like this one more than the leg shot I think ;)

During the earlier quarter of the first second spent
looking at this image, my brain could only think,
"All those pipes and drums in a room.
were Bob and Sheila not deaf before,
they must certainly be deaf soon.
Such price is not too much to pay
for the good company kept
in this festive way.

I assume Bob and Sheila do not mind a few of us arriving at the celebration several days late. Kathleen, you are like the people in the Verizon ads, followed about by the network crowd, except in your case it's just us "Durham Websters" tagging along.

Very nice. The crowd looks so festive. Charming atmosphere.

For some reason, your title makes me laugh even more than the photo does. Charming.
