This and previous shot are great. Really like that freezed moment, when so many birds are moving...Great captures!

it's pretty amazing that nature itself teaches us everything we need to know about color theory. do you ever feel like you're in a candy store just waiting for the chance to sneak a piece? that's sorta what your photos are - that chance. nice shot.

I kind of wonder about those three on the ground. Fabulous shot!

Glad to see you got your "Bird Flew" shot. Make a fantastic jigsaw puzzle considering the cacophony of complex merging patterns.

An appropriate finale (?) to a short series that looks more like serigraph images than photographs. The elements seem so well positioned and the simplified pallet of contrasting hues seems so well planed. The small bit of cool blue sky makes a huge impact against the warm color below.....and we are only just getting to February.....just lucky I guess...

Thanks for more outstanding field work!

I've been a subscriber to your blog for a while and I love the daily image. Thanks for sharing. It's always fun to see what other kinds of photographers shoot.

To capture snow geese in a field
With camera and film she did wield
The birds they did fly
Off into the sky
"Third time is a charmer" she squeeled.

(I'm old enough to remember Burma Shave roadside signs, can you tell?)

Another beautiful capture!
They look like spring blossoms on an impressionist
painting.

I really like this shot... gives me the impression that the trees are full of white flowers... very nice.

Did the sound of your shutter scare them away? :) I would be afraid that they would turn into hitchcock film birds and swarm me!

Just a stunning shot, Kathleen. Beautiful. And I can feel the chill in the air. Hopefully you had a lab dog or something to flush them out for you! Hope all is well.

What strikes me most is how it looks like the geese are growing on the trees...the leaves have been replaced by geese! What a neat shot.

So, how fast can your repeat, "Greater Snow Geese grow on trees, Greater Snow Geese grow on trees, Greater Snow...faster...without saying "snow grease?"

Posted by David Tinnon on February 7, 2008 12:44 AM

my very first impression when I saw this was snow covered trees :)) I dont have snow on the brain too much do I? :)
Very striking Kathleen

Very nice texture clash between the trees & the geese. I found your blog on photoblogs.org. I think it's one of the best. I always wished someone would shoot the beautiful clash between the geometry of farmland, and the "chaos" of nature.

The dogs/owners are a lot of fun.
Thanks for some great work.
