Charlie's Barn the Morning After a Light Snowfall
PHOTOGRAPH INFO This photo was taken last Friday on my morning walk. Fog was rising from the fresh snow and the sun was illuminating it, making it so bright I was able to bring the ISO down to 50. It was one of the most beautiful mornings we've had this winter. Camera settings and post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D Thank you for visiting Durham Township! --Kathleen Comments
Kathleen Beautiful... I guess all of the ingredients for a nice landscape are in here. A great shot Kathleen! Posted by javga on January 26, 2008 2:42 AMSnow is magic...(or is it just the accompanying ions.) I know people from grandchildren to grandparents who are excited by a fresh snowfall. A field of stubble, pile of trash or even a roadside display of pre-owned residential furniture becomes a delight to ponder. So even when I come in after shoveling snow off of the driveway before breakfast (even before coffee!) I am elated by what else? Yep, a snow scape. Love it. Another one of those "Wizard of Aaaaahhhhs" kind of shots that explains why 84% of the known world is moving to Durham Township so they can live in Kathleen's picture world....I'll rent a loft in Charlie's Barn.....turn in into a "Barn and Breakfast" spot (Great if you're into straw and eggs!)....I am packing honey, call a Realtor..........(Dear DT Locals, just kidding about the move. I want to enjoy Idaho and Durham Township) Thanks again for giving us another world to enjoy from a comfortable seat in our own....sort of an alternate reality....so how about a Durham Township theme song to promote the evisit angle and thereby minimize physical impact on the locals? ...to the tune of "Gimme Shelter?" call it "Gimme Pictures"...."They're just a click away, click away, click awaaaaay"....(insert appropriate twangy guitar riff)...I can here them Stones screamin' it......can't you? (are the locals with me on this?) I'll call Mick........ Posted by David Tinnon on January 26, 2008 12:58 PMuna magnifica luz... Posted by Paco on January 26, 2008 1:12 PMKathleen, Kathleen, I love how the blue sky transitions down to the golden brown of the grass. This is a 'big' image that covers a lot of ground. Well done, as usual. I just picked up a 50mm f1.4 for my 40D today :) Thanks for the continued inspiration! -Rob in Vacaville, CA Posted by Rob in Vacaville on January 26, 2008 9:35 PMI love morning walks and the atmosphere of this photo--it really is beautiful, in a simple way, something I can relate to. I love the warm colors of the ground in contrast to the cool blue of the sky. Posted by Jacob on January 27, 2008 12:41 PMJust lovely! Beautiful photo of a winter morning in PA. I like the soft colors and various textures. Posted by Anita Bower on January 27, 2008 3:41 PMWhat a beautiful view Kathleen. I remember that morning. Hoping we have more snow soon :) Posted by Ruth C. Taylor on January 27, 2008 6:22 PMThe golden color of the morning sun on the ground makes me forget the dull gray clouds which occupies half the frame. -Balaji Posted by Balaji on January 28, 2008 9:23 AMBeautiful warm light. Posted by Oswegan on January 28, 2008 11:57 AMNote the comment from Richard George, I'm not the only one beginning to suspect your having "elemental powers." (It's not like there's no growing stack of evidence for the case.) Posted by david tinnon on January 28, 2008 3:20 PMThis is beautiful scenery for a morning walk. Oh how I wish this was near me! My morning walks would be so much more enjoyable! I would be so charged up for the day if I could walk in a place like that every day. This is just a beautiful with the wonderful morning light and the that wonderful, unspoiled view. Posted by Laurie on January 28, 2008 4:48 PMCONGRATULATIONS on winning the "Best American Photoblog" for 2007!!!!! Well deserved! Posted by Anita Bower on January 28, 2008 6:42 PMKathleen, The great American Landscape continues to look beautiful through your eyes. Thank you for the reminder that waking up early and taking a morning walk can bring magnificent sights! Posted by Whateverland on January 28, 2008 7:01 PMYou and your work continue to amaze me. You are as fantastic as I knew you would become, maybe even better. As to this work, I prefer some of your earlier peices better, but then they can't all be Picasso's ! Don't get me wrong, this is special, maybe one of my top 3 favorite. I dare not compare to where you are now, but I'd love your critique of my two amateur scenic pics. Ciao Posted by Old Friend on January 28, 2008 10:52 PMI love the atmosphere you've captured... lovely image!!! very well done.
