Frozen Lake
PHOTOGRAPH INFO This photograph was taken Wednesday afternoon at Lake Towhee in Applebachsville, PA, about 15 minutes from Durham Township. The lake had a few inches of ice around the holidays but with warmer weather this week (highs in the 60s) the ice has thinned out. Camera settings and post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D Thank you for visiting Durham Township! --Kathleen Comments
Wow, what a beautiful exposure. It is a very relaxing feel from the picture. I just got back from PA from over the holidays. I didn't get to do much outdoor shooting however. Posted by Rémi on January 12, 2008 5:54 AMMarvellous photo! Posted by imagina on January 12, 2008 6:52 AMAnother photo with interesting lines and lighting. The young woman on the dock adds psychological dimension. Without her (just like Jakey and Jenn in the barn), the picture would not be as complete. Artistically, I like the way you framed all the elements.---- Was she walking with you, or did you encounter someone you know? Her decision to lie down is intriguing. Did she do so to check the depth of the water with her stick? ---Good work.-- Keep on keepn' on. Loving each one of those 17mm... beautiful crispness throughout...wide angle suits you, Kathleen! Welcome back Jenn. Lake Towhee is very nice in the winter. Once the geese take it over in summer, well lets just say, it stinks, literally. Posted by Mark on January 12, 2008 12:36 PMHey, it's a "Penn-up!" Ms January? Shore looks cool. Nice of Jenn to ah-pier, and melt the ice, and thanks to Kathleen for adding a little blue sky to a winter's day. Posted by David Tinnon on January 12, 2008 2:37 PMThis is a real stunner, a favorite for me! I love the punches of color to brighten this winter landscape. The exposure couldn't be better. It looks like Jenn has recovered from the cat incident in the previous photo! Posted by Laurie on January 13, 2008 10:15 AMOh! It seems to be so cold ! I lilke your shot. Posted by atzu on January 13, 2008 3:35 PMI cannot say if I am in love with the picture, or with the girl on it, but this picture really got me. Posted by Max on January 13, 2008 3:38 PMOh! It seems to be so cold ! I lilke your shot. Posted by atzu on January 13, 2008 3:56 PMThe top of the picture looks like the cover of "Big Fish" by Tim Burton ! Posted by Pilou on January 13, 2008 5:04 PMI've just found your blog and have been enjoying your pieces very much! Just want to let you know I've put your link on my blogroll... Keep up the beautiful work. Posted by nataJane on January 13, 2008 5:53 PMThis really is an exceptional image. I love the red shack in the background. The sun is in a great spot, too. Posted by P.J. on January 14, 2008 1:55 AMI am always enjoying your photographs... I always get to see your newest photograph through google's reader. great work! Posted by Miguel Hau on January 15, 2008 7:50 PMLovely strong colours, light and exposure. My impression is that tilting the camera up slightly more would give a better balance to the composition? Posted by Simon C on January 19, 2008 4:54 AMFor some reason the rules of composition seem to have been broken (to me that is) yet the picture works brilliantly. A sure sign of great artist. Thanks.
