The Ghost of Jacob Marley

PHOTOGRAPH INFO

Every Friday before Christmas, I perform an improv version of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol live on the radio with some friends. We don't practice beforehand and we don't read from books or scripts, and there are only four or five of us, so everyone has several parts. The performance is all about spontaneity and sillyness (and trying not to burst out laughing into the mic), although we ultimately stick to the spirit of Dickens' message.

This year the ghost of Jacob Marley was played by Jonathan, who hails from England. We were all surprised to find that Jonathan had never read Dickens in school, nor had he ever seen a film version of A Christmas Carol. He gave a truly improvised and fresh performance on Friday, that's for sure!

Jonathan thinks Americans appreciate Dickens more than the British do.

Post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D and the Canon 85mm f/1.2L lens at f/2, 1/40s, ISO 3200. Curves adjustments and color balancing. White balance correction. No noise reduction.

No Way, not in them glasses he ain't...maybe a bit of bad beef or an under done potato......more of gravy than grave....so exactly where do we go to download the audio--and when are the early episodes coming out on DVD.....please.....we do want to hear this......I'm not kidding...but what about the writer's strike?.....oh, thats right, there are no writers.....another blow to the union!

(which reminds me, Brit friends have told me the Brits are bigger students of the our civil war than we are!)

Thanks for smiles you continue to make happen, and of course, More Merry Christmas and "God bless us everyone!"

Nice light angle. So you decided to give your viewers the dickens. Looks rather life-like for being a ghost. Could this be the start of a "Jonathan" series of pictures? Merry Christmas from our family to yours.

Now that is something I would love to hear. Are there any recordings of the show done?

From my house to yours, I wish you and your family a safe, peaceful, and very Merry Christmas!

I remember you posting photos from the broadcast in the past and thinking how fun it must be.

What station is it on? I would have loved to have heard it. I probably couldn't get it here though.

This is a wonderful portrait.
