Early Snow #3
PHOTOGRAPH INFO Last Sunday and Monday we had an early snowfall. The snow was melted by Tuesday morning but I'm still posting shots almost a week later. :) Still a few more in the pipeline. Check out my buddy Justin Gaynor's new holiday photoblog, 'Tis the Season! Justin's looking for guest photographers so if you have a holiday image you'd like to submit, drop him a note. Thanks for the fun project, Justin! Post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D Thank you for visiting Durham Township! --Kathleen

That's certainly much more "in-depth" winter than your last photo. Winter tranquility and melancholy... Wonderful. Posted by Thomas on November 25, 2007 10:46 AMI'm really enjoying this series. I love winter and the snow. We had some snow, but nothing like this. Posted by Robert on November 25, 2007 10:51 AMKathleen , Everything takes on a wondrous quality with a new coat of snow. Not the least of wonders here is the tangle of weeds and fence row forestry on the right. The wide path through the broken stalks of last season's corn harvest beckons us on to the rail fence and the softened shapes of distant trees. Yep, fresh coat of snow does a world of good...if there is someone there to capture it. Thanks for being there so we can be there.
Your photography is beautiful and makes me feel something! This picture reminds me of when I was a boy growing up in rural Minnesota. Thanks for what you do. Posted by Andy on November 25, 2007 1:46 PMI breathe bigger everytime I click on one of your photos. They give life. Posted by Patty Barden on November 25, 2007 5:56 PMReally like this B&W image. Great details and contrast. Very nice work. Posted by John Maslowski on November 25, 2007 7:52 PMThe snow and fog have transformed the normally distracting power poles and lines and are making me look deep before they are absorbed. Posted by JPH on November 26, 2007 6:58 AMThat was actually quite a lot of snow for an early storm. It transformed the landscape into a winter dreamscape. Posted by Laurie on November 26, 2007 6:59 AMnice shot! I can't wait to experience this. Beautifully captured, as usual. I have been wondering though, so that I don't make a mistake when winter does come around full swing... Is it bad to have your camera out in such cold weather??? Posted by Michael George on November 26, 2007 7:54 PMHere they stand in row after row; their silent yet crucial contributions to society taken for granted. Hasn't this always been the case? Isn't this what makes a Country great? So many, selflessly give so much and are never recognized, are rarely appreciated. Yet they continue to answer the call and form up in anonymous ranks to be harvested or plowed under like so much chafe and fodder while dangers flourish and mankind marches onward to an uncertain future. Posted by Willow on November 27, 2007 10:19 AMApparently Willow is not a union writer.......good! Posted by David Tinnon on November 28, 2007 3:26 AMTerrific series, and this one's my favorite. I'm a sucker for lines that lead to something, that shapely tree in this case. Looks like a very quiet scene. Posted by MarkDM on December 5, 2007 2:47 AMNunca he sentido un invierno...no hay estaciones en mi país..pero en tu fotogtafía se puede percibir claramente...felicitaciones!!!
