Durham Road (Through the Windshield)

PHOTOGRAPH INFO

I was out running errands when I took this photograph last week from my (very slowly moving) car. I kept thinking I'd go back on foot and photograph the scene sans windshield, but I didn't have time. So I feel like this photo could've been "crisper" but perhaps the spontaneity is what makes it interesting. Fun to ponder. Anyway, my collection of windshield shots continues to grow. :)

There's a lot more detail in the larger version.

Post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D and the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS lens at 70mm, ISO 400, f/9, shutter 1/60s. Windshield filter. Curves adjustment and color balancing.

Thank you for visiting Durham Township!

The colors are calm, but they still seem to "pop". Perfectly processed and beautifully composed.

Really nice shot Kathleen! There's still a lot of green in the trees, with just enough patches of gold and red to balance it out.

Wonderful Colors, fantastic shot as always Kathleen.

Ah, I miss roads like this. Reminds me of the roads in my hometown in N.H. Lovely shot.

Gee, you have one clean windshield! My w.s. pictures all have little bug smears throughout the scene. I love fall and its colors. Lovely!

beautiful! (I need to clean my windshield so a shot like this is possible.)

I have to echo RD's comment: you have to have the cleanest windshield in the state and/or you must change your wiper blades weekly for such clean windshield shots. Perhaps you should do an endorsement for Anco or whatever brand of blades you use.
I never would have considered taking windshield shots until I've seen yours, so now you've inspired me (yet again). I've taken a few on my own, but haven't posted them yet. Mostly, because there's rush hour traffic in front of me when I snap them (yuk!).

Beautiful! Keep the fall colors coming! I love it! (and I hope you don't mind that I use your gorgeous photos as desktop wallpaper on my PC. They make me so happy.) :)

The first thing that jumped out at me were the yellow road lines- in Florida, all the paint is worn and dull from overuse. anyhow, this is a beautiful photo, especially through a windshield!

Absolutely Beautiful. I took photos of the Shenandoah National Forest last weekend but our leaves aren't near as peak as these are.

I love your work, Kathleen. I really like this shot, and I guess it's a good thing you keep your windshield so clean. Never miss a photo-op.

My best friend and I love to get lost to take pictures during the fall. This is the type of photo I also hope to drive into. Great shot!

It's almost impossible for us to took windshield shoots at Taipei.
I really like this scene and your shot!

A Disney dream setting--can a wonderland be far off?. The clean lines of the road make a perfect graphic, opposing the "ciaos" of the forest. The road is so clean as to suggest a pending animated sequence. I'm patiently waiting for the characters from Bambi to start peeking out of the foliage or bouncing across the highway.......................still waiting......(4W? After the "lily-pads-by-the-lake" essay, there is no telling what she may see around the bend in this road!)

Another beautiful addition to the "Shot Through the Windshield" series. Thank You.

Your arms intertwine to create a protective canopy. You shield your passage from those around you. Where are you going? How far have you come? Sometimes you rush along at reckless speeds and at other times, you travel at a safe, cautious pace. Your experiences are many and your pain and happiness well earned. The secrets of your journey are safe unless you choose to reveal them.

Try to stay in the middle of the road, for although you hope that your path will be straight and true, the signs indicate that there are still some dangerous turns ahead.

How ironic would it be to learn that Willow writes while she's driving.......seems fitting though......perhaps the sign is warning Willow to reduce creativity levels to 25 words per minute due to adverse road conditions ahead.......would she?

BEAUTIFUL!! Such vibrant color... especially considering that windshield filter. ;)
