River Fog Near Stout's School, 7:05 a.m.

PHOTOGRAPH INFO

This photo was taken on Monday morning. I'll probably do a series of river fog shots - we've been lucky to have the same conditions for the last five or six days and there's no end in sight yet. I've been out every morning before dawn. Can't complain! :)

Post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D and the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS lens at 200mm, ISO 400, f/8, shutter 1/200s. Deep curves adjustments to add contrast and depth, and color balancing (added slight red & yellow) to the highlights.

Thank you for visiting Durham Township!

Absolutely breathtaking.

You do realize that if you keep posting these beautiful images, many of us are going to pick up and move to Durham Township so we can see this beauty first hand. I hope we don't create a building boom up there!

simply gorgeous. My first impression was - how did she capture THAT many colors all together? The layers truly create a rainbow of imagery.

I love the colors in that photograph. And I love the way the fog is playing between the trees and the ground. Great capture!

It's like a rainbow, only better.

You know I hate you because this is too good, right?

Fantastic - I love the range of natural colour tones you have achieved in this image. Great landscape image.

Love the light. The quilt of fog slowly sliding off the earthen bed as the light of the new day creaps onto the covers.

I had no idea that fog could be such a source of beauty. Fog has always scared me, and driving through it recently in PA was stressful, but this is just gorgeous.

Of all of your amazing work, this image might be my favorite. I love it.

Kathleen, I've been following your blog for several months and really enjoy viewing your images. This is another example of the sensitivity and style you bring to the craft. Regards, Tom

Sweet! We've had the same fog down this way but I've been a bit too lazy to wake up and capture it on pixels. Maybe tomorrow?

Delicious palette of colours, so inviting.

Beautiful scenery, beautiful colors, an amazing atmosphere and a great picture.

Thanks to the delightful work of the fog, "there is no end in sight."

I had this image on a screen for quite some time at work. After a while the rainbow similarity really struck me.

Thanks for rising early to get images like this! I have been shooting some Idaho sunrise reference shots, so I can appreciate your own focus determination.

Such a gorgeous scene! The colors go from subtle in the sky to deep, rich tones on the earth. Simply beautiful!

Very beautiful and moody fog shot.

You stand in the sunlight; in a field cultivated by your actions of today. Just in front of you, green pastures lie fertile and waiting for you to plant your ideas, hopes and dreams. But then, a barrier, a test of your resolve. One that you might climb over or one that may signify an ending point to your world. Here is where you make your choice. The future is more obscure. The farther you travel away from where you are, the more uncertainty exists. You can see some things through the fog; uneven things, dark things, mysterious things that disappear into the gray unknown. Will you take the chance and travel into the darkness? Will this darkness dissipate as you move forward? It will if you unburden your mind, free your heart, release your soul and "feel" the mountain and the dawn that will rise over it. Climb the mountain that is your future; revel in every portion of it; stand at the summit; raise your arms and celebrate the life that you have created.

I have no idea how you can get up that early so often...but it sure does pay off!!! excellent image...just lovely!

My only thought is I don't like the sunlight in the foreground as much... it seems to pull my eye a little away from the foggy trees/backgrounds...which, to me, is the coolest pat of the image. But I'm being REALLY nitpicky... well done, indeed!

The layers in this are just amazing. Breathtaking. How lucky to be able to be greeted by this kind of sight.

I want to move.

I am so impressed by this photo - I hope you entered it in several contest. Getty would love this photo too, in my opinion. Unfortunately, I don't work for Getty.

Nice work, are you a professional?
