Mooing Bull Calf Tied (Very Temporarily) to a Fertilizer Spreader

PHOTOGRAPH INFO

This bull calf was tied up for a little while today until a proper stall was prepared. I accidentally woke him when I walked into the barn. He stood up on his spindly little legs and mooooooooooed at me for 10 minutes!

I took this shot because I loved the late afternoon light/colors in the barn; I was also thrilled with the contrasts & similarities between the legs of the calf and the legs of the fertilizer spreader.

Post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D and the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L lens at 24mm, ISO 400, f/2.8, shutter 1/200s. Curves adjustments and color balancing.

Thank you for visiting Durham Township!

You've captured a portion of the "only need it sometimes" corner of the farm. Makes me wonder what else might be lurking in the shadows. I hope li'l bull gets a stall and not a ride to the auction house.

By "temporarily" I hope you mean temporarily tied and not temporarily a bull!!!

Ah this reminds me very much of a baby moose I ran into in Rocky Mountain National Park. The legs are so 'gangly.' I find it funny how it appears that animals, as well as humans, all go through that "awkward" teenager stage.

Very interesting capture. I can just hear him mooooing, haha!

Mark: Thanks for the correction! I fixed the title. :)

The little guy's very cute. You're right, the similarities of the calf's legs and that of the spreaders are interesting. I found it ironic that the source of the manure was tied up to the distribution device.

Russ: That made me burst out laughing! Thanks!

I'm glad I could make your day, Kathleen. I love your work. Keep it up!

Two manure spreaders actually. You got to feed them both. One becomes increasingly harder to stop, the other one can't get started on it's own.

And, of course, one of these manure spreaders has the capacity to make more manure spreaders. (Manure Spreader Love!)

Russ, I did not catch the "matching legs" till I read your comment--hilarious observation.!

Jakey can keep the tires, but I'm lookin' pretty hard at the 55gal drum and the plywood.

Fair's over, Kathleen. Back to farm--and thanks for spreading Durham Township all over our screens. It grows a lot of grins, and there's no smell or cleanup required.

meanwhile, (way,Way) back at the Fair, Freddy the Spreader shows off his prize calf. We can see that Freddy marches to a different drum when he is not 2-tired, (single ply.)

Wonderfully sweet photo. He just wanted to play. So cute.

I've gotten to the point where reading the comments is just about as fun as seeing your photos! As always it's a very nice break from my day!

Great photo - it captures a lovely mood - so glad we can't transmit the odour across the super-highway.
