Last Daylight, First Firefly Light Above Tinicum Creek

PHOTOGRAPH INFO

This photo was taken Saturday night at 8:45 p.m. from a footbridge above Tinicum Creek. The sun had set directly across from where I stood and the last light illuminated the creek and the tree leaves above it. A firefly rose from the creek as I took the shot, and due to the shallow depth of field (f/3.5), the firefly appears as a round point of light on the left side of the image.

You'll see more detail if your monitor is in a darkened room.

Happy St. Swithin's Day! :)

Post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D and the Canon 180mm f3.5L lens at 180mm, ISO 3200, shutter speed 1/60s, aperture f/3.5. Crop to square, curves, color balancing.

Thank you for visiting Durham Township!

Glad you risked the 'skeeters and got this fine early evening shot. You've made the best of the low light.

It's rare to see one of your shots only understood after reading the title, I like it though.

Very quaint. It looks more like a painting, and an abstract one at that.

Light travels light, and thanks to the "Wacky Wonders of DOF" (full length feature film to be released in the distant future) the firefly becomes a "poor little moon that's lost it's way" (to the tune of the ever-popular lamb {goat} anthem).....or as Art Bell might say, "DOF or UFO...is the popular photoblog site hiding the real truth about visitations?.....perhapes the Mother Ship is simply smaller than we thought?...anyone missing"

Thanks for shooting flies, (skeet shooting, JPH?) will the stars be next?....then we'll surly see extreme DOF! 4W?

Walk. See. Shoot. Thx, HAH (Ham at Home)

for David T's information.....'skeeters (a.k.a. misquitos) are those buzzing little biting insects known to inhabit creek areas. Will bite photographers unless they cover themselves with mud to protect their skin. (previous shot)
