Hair Flip, Sunset, Cooks Creek
PHOTOGRAPH INFO This photo was taken a little over a week ago during a heatwave. We're blessed with a cool, clean creek in which to swim and play. I can't say enough good stuff about the folks who run the Cooks Creek Watershed Association. They're passionate about educating residents and visitors about our rare and beautiful watershed. Thanks for all you do, CCWA, to foster stewardship for the creek! Post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D Thank you for visiting Durham Township! --Kathleen Comments
WOW, what a capture. You never cease to amaze. Posted by Justin Gaynor on June 19, 2007 12:43 AMAction in nature - very nice! Quite impressive to see light corols on the boy, even the sun was shinning in front of you. You didn't use any reflector, right? Its all about PP. Posted by Marius M on June 19, 2007 3:58 AMWow, that's fantastic. Great timing and lovely light too. Posted by Latchiko on June 19, 2007 4:26 AMIt is lovely. Looks like a great place to spend a hot summer day. Wonderful shot. The arc of the water looks great. You timed it perfectly. Posted by Laurie on June 19, 2007 6:55 AMI love when you do these shot. Great capture. Posted by Keith De-Lin on June 19, 2007 7:34 AMWow! This is definitely one of my top 5 favorite shots from your website. You caught this at just the right moment, and the color and lighting are spot-on. Perfect. Wooonderful work. Posted by Steve on June 19, 2007 8:30 AMGood capture with a beautiful light ! Posted by Franck on June 19, 2007 8:52 AMKathleen, one more time, you shot a wonderful moment. Beautiful shot, so perfectly timed. I particularly like the back lit water streak. Its amazing how candid this shot looks yet every element is perfectly positioned as if this shot were planned for hours. Posted by Ayash on June 19, 2007 10:32 AMfabulous! Posted by wanderer on June 19, 2007 5:47 PMwow! amazing shot! Fantastic shot. The picture has magic light. Greetings, Mariana Cuentos. A tremendous commercial image...if nine year old boys were huge buyers of rinse and conditioner. O.K., it's a great shot anyway! I do wonder if you catch moments like this by shooting "single-fire" or do you employ an auto sequence setting? This "freeze" is soooooo perfect, it is hard to imagine how you get the right slice of time when the action is this fast. As for Cooks Creek, I cannot recall a more ideal looking summer pool than this. The quicksilver ripples accentuate the interest in the rocky bottom below and there is just enough sunburst to suggest the day's late hour while the trees keep the backlight from overpowering the foreground. The sun's flare almost reaches his head, but his image does not suffer detail loss. Quite cool! Your work tends to suggest commercial photography applications to me because the majority of the world's best photographers with the best equipment and the big budgets for location work spend weeks in the "field" and come back with "stuff like this" for agencies that are trying to sell swim ware or shampoo or SUV's. I still pick up a magazine and look at the ad photography first because thats where the best work is. It's not all great, but there is more than enough to fill up CA every year. Thanks for filling up DT with the best shots--we will settle for no commercials......(plus we get editorials from Willow!) Posted by david tinnon on June 19, 2007 9:04 PMGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR I'm the terrible monster of Cooks Creek! I may look small to you but I have a big roar! No one is allowed in these waters without my permission! Make me mad and I'll give you the deadly "hair flip of pain"! Now, begone! I have frogs and salamanders to catch before the sun goes down ( and my Mom makes me get out and go home ). Posted by Willow Lite on June 20, 2007 12:10 AMjust.... perfect!
