Morning Mist at the Triangle

PHOTOGRAPH INFO

This photo was taken Saturday at 7.30 a.m., just as the sun was starting to break through the morning mist. We've had very hot, humid weather the last few days and subsequently several evening thunderstorms. The result has been fog/mist/haze in the early morning hours -- a lovely set of circumstances in which to shoot. :)

"The Triangle" is the name of the field where the tree stands.

And for those keeping track of such things, we saw the first lightning bug (Photinus pyralis) of the season tonight!

Post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D and the Canon 180mm f3.5L lens at 180mm, ISO 100, shutter speed 1/125s, aperture f/14. Curves, color balancing.

Thank you for visiting Durham Township!

The larger version works really well. I like the muted colours. They add this special morning feeling.

Your picture captures the peace and calm of this morning. Hidden from our hearing is the roar of row after row of growing plants.

Lovely indeed! I picture myself standing on the porch with my first cup of coffee, looking out over this beautiful sight before me. Thank you for taking me to that place in my dream.

Great lines and I love how it just fades out into the misty background.

wow, your photography is amazing. I feel like I want to run through that field and drink in all the mist...

Off we stare into the mist,
It's secrets to receive.
Our path now blocked by stately elm,
'tis mist only we perceive.

(O.K. Caligraphy {sic} is not for everybody!)

If one picture is better than a thousand words, then my brief poem is embarrassing unequal to the picture that inspired it.....perhaps some scales are never to balance......but if one picture is worth a thousand "thank you, Kathleen"s there a way yet!

Thank you, Kathleen (#5005)(but who's counting?)

The sun is rising, the shadows are receding and the morning mists are dissipating. The earth is waking to a new day. A new day full of promise for the life lying below the ground as well as that above. The parallel struggle between the planned and the unplanned, the orderly and the random birth and rebirth that continues year after year and generation after generation. The genius and the curse of mankind.

This is a beautiful landscape that captures the morning light and mist wonderfully. I like how the light changes from the foreground to the background. Had it brush strokes, one would think it an impressionist painting.
