Boomer Fishing for Muskies on the Delaware River

PHOTOGRAPH INFO

Taken yesterday on a gorgeous spring day.

Boomer is a Renaissance man (his nickname comes from being a pyrotechnics expert) who operates Boomer's Barbeque. He brings his mobile grill to your party and serves smoked/grilled meats with his 5-star award-winning sauce. He makes salads, brings plates/utensils and does all the clean up, too!

Boomer was fishing for muskie (short for muskellunge) - huge fish that live in the Delaware.

The trees in the background are underwater because the the Delaware River is up 25% over normal. A small part is due to runoff, but the majority is because the New York state reservoirs that feed into the Delaware River are being kept at 98%-106% of capacity and they're spilling over into the river. It's a dangerous situation and one that is supposed to be remedied, but I don't know when. (Thank you, Beth Weaver, for the info!)

Post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D and the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L lens at 27mm, ISO 200, shutter speed 1/250s, aperture f/4.5. Basic curves adjustments, color balancing for tone.

Thank you for visiting Durham Township!

Beautiful portrait. He looks very happy and content. BBQ...YUMMY!

Shame about the water level. I know the area has suffered a great deal from the floods in the past few years.

I noticed a few weeks ago that our reservoirs seemed higher than I think I've ever seen them, but they'd been low for so long it could be just my perception.

Beautiful photo, I like his smiling.

The only thing that would have made this a better picture would have been a little straw hanging out of his mouth. I hear even a bad day fishing is better than a good day working.

Great Portrait. That rod and reel seem pretty small for hunting muskie though.
