An image from the Saint Patrick's Day parade in the town of Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania shot on Sunday. The parade recognizes Celtic culture in America -- both Irish and Scottish history and traditions are celebrated. Saint Andrew's Cross is the flag of Scotland.
This girl was carrying a flagpole that was three times her height, and doing a fine job in very windy conditions.

Posted by Lucas on March 14, 2007 7:06 AMJPH: Hahahaha... the "smoke" is actually the flag she's carrying. It was really windy and the St. Andrew's Cross (a blue and white flag) blew across her face. The two shots before and after this one are just the flag, no face. :)

You brought out a sweetness in this beauriful young face that might ordinarily be lost in a crowd
Flag and Smoke, a good title for a parade photo essay. And the series is off to a great start! While I prefer the big sky, big cloud stuff, your creative eye is consistant in other areas. You get some wonderful expressions as this shot proves once more.
