The depth of field is perfect. I really like how the smoking end of the pipe is out of focus. Great!

The way his pipe is out of focus and the smoke is floating off really add something to this shot. I like the de-saturated look. Great portrait.

Lovely portrait. I like the subtle tones. I can't wait to see the rest of the parade photos. The ones from last year were a treat.

Great portrait ! I love the smoke of the pipe, which seems to have moved quite a lot despite the 1/250s exposure.

Regis: The wind was blowing like crazy yesterday! :)

Excellent portrait! The focus is where it should be... in the eyes, and the narrow DoF makes the composition much more interesting. Glad it was very windy yesterday. If the smoke from the pipe was in the man's face, it could be distractive.

Spot on!

Beautiful portrait Kathleen, I thought for sure this was taken with the 1.2 lens. The depth is quite effective.

Love the tack sharpness of the eyes and mustache... a little lacking in contrast/saturation in my very humble opinion... Wow my first constructive critique!

wow, i love this shot. For some reason i love how you have it composed and the skin tones are spot on...what do you use for your RAW conversions? Photoshop or something like C1?

Great image! Wonderful tones, nice DOF - well done!
I like the pipe and the way the smokes comes out of it very much.

Very cool composition and the smoke pattern is icing on the cake.....that is, if fire can be ice, then smoke can.....or is it; fire is cake then smoke is the.....or....

In any case, your eye and your timing are both hot.

So thanks for the hot shot, Kathleen.
