Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Westminster Kennel Club Show, NYC

PHOTOGRAPH INFO

Another shot from the Westminster Kennel Club Show at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The show was held Monday and Tuesday. It's a smorgasboard of photo opportunities; I'll be posting more later this week.

Here's a bit of background on the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

Post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D and the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L lens at 45mm, ISO 1600, shutter speed 1/60s, aperture f/2.8. Basic curves adjustment for contrast.

Thank you for visiting Durham Township!

Beautiful and austere little fella. I love spaniels, such mad, friendly dogs.

Awwww...Woof! So cute!

Such a sweet faced little dog. I know a few people who have these and they are so cute.

This is lovely and really shows how expressive the eyes are.

I had the silliest thought though; I wonder if yesterday's weather made for a "bad hair day" for the dogs at the show?

I don't mean to hound you about this, but, would one slight step to the left have hidden the soda bottle in the background?

JPH: Thanks for not hounding me, hahaaaa. I have four shots of this dog, two with a much tighter crop, but the little details in the background are too important to leave out. They're really part of the story of this event.

Cute pup, BMD markings but not a BMD
I have 3 Bernese. . .

Did you get any of the working group dogs?

What a face! And so alert. Can almost see him thinking :)

King Charles looks pleasant enough alright. As for the soda bottle being there, that doesn't bother me so much as it being so empty. Truth is I never developed an appreciation for "dog shows" and from personal experience I prefer the personality of stray mongrels. I will not, however, complain further because I know that Kathleen will take her camera back outside (where she belongs in my opinion) soon enough!

I am glad to here that you and King Charles enjoyed the show. A change of pace is a good thing. I will patiently await the fields and sky,
knowing they will be in good hands.

Kathleen, what a sweet expression, perfectly captured. (Reminds me of a little girl with pony tails, though--don't tell him, though.)
Wonderful shot!

Hello little fella! I like the way he/she looks back... "I know, I know, I am very pretty!"

I am a screener at onexposure.net, a Swedish website for artistic photo. I've been looking through your pictures and I got to say your work really stands out. If you would like to contribute something and inspire even more people we would be more than happy!

Kathleen,

My parents love this photo. They have a CKCS and know the breeder of this dog here. Absolutely fantastic shots from the show!

Hope all is well.
