Glenn Elliot of Suches, Georgia
PHOTOGRAPH INFO There's a good long story that goes with this shot but I don't have time to write it out just now. I hope to tell it at the end of the week. For now let it suffice to say that Mr. Elliot had the bluest eyes I've ever seen in my life! I've had a problem with the comments part of the site but I think it's all fixed now. Thanks for your patience. Post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D Thank you for visiting Durham Township (currently on location in Georgia)! --Kathleen Comments
Absolutely impressive partrait shot! Posted by KPK on October 11, 2006 3:15 AMThis is beautifully captured and the composition is spot on. Great work :) p.s. I thought my portraits were looking good till I saw this! Posted by Dean on October 11, 2006 4:40 AMMakes me wonder if the eyes helped make him popular with ladies in his youth. Posted by Robert on October 11, 2006 5:49 AMYou're in my son's neck of the woods. He's stationed in Ft. Benning about 120 miles south of Suches. I love his eyes and he has quite a lot of character in his face. I love the sign above his head. Brilliant! I can't wait to hear the story behind the shot. Posted by Laurie on October 11, 2006 6:25 AMThat's a very nice portrait indeed. His eyes do look incredibly blue, quite literally as I thought you must have pushed them loads in processing but upon reading your description, maybe that's not the case. Anyway regardless of how you got there, it's a fine piece of work. Posted by Jamey on October 11, 2006 6:28 AMThose are some crezy eyes!! Love the portrait, this guy has ALOT of character and it looks like you caught most of it! Excellent shot. Posted by Craig Wilson on October 11, 2006 7:01 AMThis is just a perfectly executed photo! Well done. Your photoblog is very consistent in its high quality and engaging subject matter. Posted by dan culberson on October 11, 2006 8:18 AMWow, I new this picture felt more like home... If you pass through Milledgeville, stop at Georgia College and let me give you a tour of the most photogenic college campus in the country! Posted by Tim Vacula on October 11, 2006 8:18 AMThis is incredible. Posted by Joe Lencioni on October 11, 2006 8:39 AMNice shot, as always! Now that guy is crazy! I'm suprised he still has some teeth left. Posted by Cousin Mike on October 11, 2006 10:20 AMNice image and good framing. Posted by John on October 11, 2006 12:22 PMdamn! he spooked me! Posted by Crash on October 11, 2006 2:10 PMhaha, such a great picture! the color of those eyes are amazing! btw, i've been looking at your site every day for about a month now and I absolutely love it. but I get extremely jealous that I don't have access to such beautiful rural surroundings? Incredible work! Posted by jkelske on October 11, 2006 2:33 PMHis eyes are amazing, is that true color? Posted by Jeff Ambrose on October 11, 2006 4:13 PMI don't know what's crazier, his eyes or his hair. Yeehaw! Posted by Angry Buddha on October 11, 2006 5:54 PMNo offense, but he looks rather intoxicated to me. Posted by Judith Polakoff on October 11, 2006 10:40 PMI love your site, I think this is my favorite picture that I have seen. His face is so full of character and you are right, the bluest eyes I have ever seen. Great work. Posted by Bill on October 11, 2006 10:51 PMI didn't change the colors in this shot at all. I've never seen anyone with eyes like Mr. Elliot's. When you see him in person, you'd swear he was wearing the craziest pair of contacts ever made. As far as I know he wasn't drunk. He was nothing but kind and gentle and sweet. But he invited me to partake in some homemade moonshine... More later...! Posted by Kathleen on October 11, 2006 11:41 PM Looks like he's really lived and makes me wonder what those eyes have witnessed in his life. Wonderful. Posted by Vickie on October 12, 2006 3:52 PMgee, what an awesome portrait!! eheh love the sign above the guy there :) Posted by Rui on October 12, 2006 6:26 PMjust to show that I dont only leave negative comments on your blog this one is really good and very funny he looks like he has been trained well Posted by damien on October 12, 2006 8:39 PMYou couldn't ask for a much better subject. This would have made a great b/w, but the colors are too brilliant. Well done. Posted by Bryan on October 12, 2006 11:32 PMwow.. it's beautiful. I've never seen such blue eyes.. Posted by bobby on October 13, 2006 8:12 AMnow there's a face that's been around the block a few times! A simply excellent portrait. Posted by david on October 13, 2006 10:46 AMGlenn makes me think of an elderly lady I met once. Her skin was wrinkled, but her extremely blue eyes and soft hair (it must have been soft!) were baby like. Has anyone mentioned his blue eyes yet? Posted by braesikalla on October 14, 2006 6:11 AMI love this photo....quite a handsome dude! I love all the farm photos as well....excellent work. Thank you. Posted by Janet on October 14, 2006 3:13 PM"Glenn" looks like a fun person to know or even see...great character! Of course, the sign in the background adds to the enjoyment... Posted by otilius on October 14, 2006 3:17 PMStunning portrait. You captured just enough of the environment to give us a clue as to the story. Posted by Paxton Prints on October 15, 2006 1:54 AManother excellent portrait with a nice backdrop and a true main character, his wrinkles even echo the texture of him armchair :) Posted by pierre on October 15, 2006 12:08 PMFantastic expression. Your portraits continue to shine. Thanks for sharing. Posted by Tom on October 15, 2006 10:18 PMGlenn looks like a retired submarine sailor to me. Can't wait for the rest of the story... Posted by Bob on October 16, 2006 9:55 AM~this is more than a portrait, it's a social document that speaks volumes about the subject, setting and life~ Posted by btezra on October 17, 2006 1:34 PMthe sign above his head is priceless (not to sound like a mastercard ad) great frame. Posted by Alison on October 17, 2006 7:49 PMWhat strikes me is that I'm probably old enough to be Glenn's brother and crazy enough to work there. (I don't acually work there.....just crazy enough to work there.) Thanks, sorta. Posted by david Tinnon on October 17, 2006 9:32 PMI keep coming back to this one. The subject has such wonderful character and works perfectly in front of the lens. This is a portrait to really be proud of. I hope you make yourself a print on this one!
