Raking Alfalfa

PHOTOGRAPH INFO

This photograph was taken a couple of weeks ago when Jakey was raking alfalfa.

After the alfalfa is raked, it dries for a few hours in the sun and breeze, and then gets baled and taken to the barn (in the hay wagon) for storage. The bales are used to feed the cows in the winter.

Post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D and the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L lens at 24mm, ISO 200, shutter speed 1/640s and aperture f/9. Curves adjustments for contrast/saturation; color balancing for tone.

Thank you for visiting Durham Township!

What a wonderful education for the little guy. So many things to remember, like standing in that wooden wagon watching Jakey rake. The sun, the smell, the feel of the day. You share so much with your photos. Thanks for another smile to start the day.

You live in a lovely area, rich in scenics. I second KPK, well worth a daily visit.

Did you take any photographs of the tractor? I think it would be a good photo.

Very nice. Excellent framing to have the small boy at the edge of the photo.

Some September day, this young man, maybe working in the cemented heart of New York City, will have something in him trigger the smell of fresh raked alfalfa. You painted this picture for him to remember. Thank you for all your beautiful work.

Another beauty. I wanted to say that I am too lazy to leave comments these days, but that doesn't mean I don't check and enjoy your photos :)
