Banded Garden Spider (Argiope trifasciata)

PHOTOGRAPH INFO

This photograph was taken today on a walk through some morning fog and mist. Spider webs are everywhere at this time of year. I must've shot 100 different webs this morning but this was my favorite.

Post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D and the Canon 85mm f/1.2L lens at 85mm, ISO 100, 1/2500s at f/1.2. Curves adjustment for contrast and saturation, color balancing for tone.

Thank you for visiting Durham Township!

Such a lovely and delicate shot! Love how you placed the little fella in an inconspicuous corner as well as the tack-on DoF. :)

Fantastic shot...Really perfect.

I've been hunting for these over the past few days. We usually get a ton of these around here, even just outside my own door, but this year they have been scarce. I did find a lot of those really dense webs that lay flat on the tops of shrubs, of course no spiders anywhere near them (just my luck). Maybe I'll see some soon. We usually have a very large one right on the corner of the house near the front door in time for Halloween.

Spectacular!

When I saw the title I though, "ho hum, another spider shot," but the composition, the lighting, the DOF are flawless!

Not your first great web site I think. The cropping is excellent.

Thank you for the arachniphotoia.

Oh wow. This is incredible. The DOF is perfect, it just draws the eye right into the center. Beautiful.

Nice image, especially so since it sounds as though you didn't use a tripod.

I hate spiders but this is a great photo. I have tried to take photos of spider webs before and got nothing like this. Amazing.

I too have been trying to capture spiders and webs recently... never came up with anything worth looking at tho...
this has such a natural quality... the light, colours and DOF work extremely well together.. really like how the dew drops on the left are in focus :D
