Hunterdon County 4-H & Agricultural Fair
PHOTOGRAPH INFO These photographs were taken this week at the Hunterdon County 4-H & Agricultural Fair in Ringoes, New Jersey. Hunterdon County is directly across the Delaware River from Bucks County. It's still a fairly rural area although development is becoming more rampant. This is a very, very popular fair, and like the Grange Fair in Bucks County, brings the local agricultural community together. Post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D 1) 85mm, ISO 1600, shutter speed 1/100s and aperture f/4.5. Converted the RAW files to monochrome using the gradient map, basic curves adjustment, slight color balancing for tone. --Kathleen Comments
Wonderful series. My favorites are 1 & 8 and the rest are just wonderful as well. Well I get to see what I missed. I had planned on trying to get there this week but it just wasn't to be, too many other things got in the way. Oh well, maybe next year. See you tonight! Posted by Laurie on August 26, 2006 4:08 PMThat looks like one heck of a fair with enough to see and do for the whole family. I miss a good county fair like that. Living in a fishing community now, our county fair here really doesn't offer much. My favorite pic would be the Sold Chicks. Posted by micki on August 26, 2006 10:33 PMState Fair fotos are always full of human interest. All are fun to see! Posted by Kate on August 26, 2006 11:00 PMWell, this time the black & white photographs definitely don’t bring sadness. I especially love the "Vegetable Bed" and the "Stripes" photos; the conception of either the objects or composition of those is interesting and funny. The shade in "Sold Chicks" appeals to me as well. Posted by Marta, Poland on August 27, 2006 5:54 AMI feel as if I've just read a short story about the fair. Thank you, the shots are wonderful. Posted by Ruth on August 27, 2006 7:39 AMi love the goats ;o) a real snapshot - simply great! Posted by Saxi on August 27, 2006 8:02 AMI find the first image very interesting. You can see that the positioning of the two goats signifies the sacred feminine...which you can read more about in my new novel "The DaVinci Goat". All the images are top-notch, as usual, Kathleen:) Posted by Dan Brown on August 27, 2006 1:09 PMGood series. It is incredible that these shots are at 3200 ISO. Do you use any noise reduction software? Posted by Joe Lencioni on August 27, 2006 2:35 PMJoe: No noise reduction on any of these. The 5D rocks. Posted by Kathleen on August 28, 2006 1:02 AMJeeez your shots here are incredible. I love the sold chicks one, it feels really moody like B&W movies from Jim Jarmush. Great texture work in some of those. Thanks for sharing your work every day. Posted by adrien on August 28, 2006 5:50 AMI spotted an Ipod! Well i guess you find them everywhere. Good job Kathleen! Posted by javga on August 28, 2006 6:31 AMKathleen, I just had to comment on these wonderful black and white images! Best. -Zee Posted by Zoran Milich on August 28, 2006 9:57 AMGreat shots, I love all the different textures and patina on the paint ball targets. Posted by miles on August 29, 2006 10:45 AMSpeak!
