Foggy Vacation
PHOTOGRAPH INFO This photograph was taken last week while on vacation. Most people like sun at the beach; I'm partial to fog. :) I have a few more foggy beach shots coming up later in the week. Post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D YOU'RE INVITED! Come see about 20 printed and framed images from A Walk Through Durham Township at Gallery 14 in Hopewell, New Jersey, beginning Friday, July 14th through Sunday, August 27th. My exhibit is called The Value of the Land and it's showing alongside Gallery 14 member Jim Hilgendorf's exhibit entitled Trucks and Truckers. We're in for a slice of Americana! :) There's a wine & cheese opening reception on Friday, July 14th from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m and a "Meet the Photographers" event on Sunday, July 16th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. I'll be at both -- hope you can stop by! Thank you for visiting Durham Township! --Kathleen Comments
this photo has a very surreal feeling about it. one of a dream sequence almost. well composed and great lighting! Posted by eric y on July 11, 2006 6:11 PMWell, I do prefer a sunny beach, but the fog makes for a lovely picture. :) Posted by Trish on July 11, 2006 6:16 PMThis is so soft and wonderful. Great capture of the scene. Posted by Tanja > DoubleCrossed.ca on July 11, 2006 6:35 PMInteresting. I usually try to eliminate the haze from my shore shots. Posted by Ted on July 11, 2006 6:37 PMNice. The steps in the sand does it for me :) Looks like you were the first people there that day... Posted by [ PIXEL VIKING ] on July 11, 2006 6:38 PMCool photo ... I like the composition u used here. Posted by otomi on July 11, 2006 6:59 PMBeautiful! It looks like something out of a dream. Posted by Erica on July 11, 2006 7:14 PMThe softness here is just lovely. It definitely has a different feel than what I am used to from you and I think it is just lovely. You are so versatile with your style. I had some business in PA today in Doylestown. We took a ride north towards Easton and were dismayed at the flood damage you all have had to endure. I hope things there recover quickly. Posted by Laurie on July 11, 2006 7:52 PMgood one .. very soft indeed.. but it will be sun on beaches for me.. fog rather kills the mood. Posted by Jeet on July 11, 2006 10:08 PMwow ! beautiful ! Indeed... looks like a dreamy shot.. very very nicely captured Posted by Rahul Kumar on July 11, 2006 11:49 PMWow, what a nice change of pace. And the haze makes this shot, if you ask me. It brings out the nice, subtle colors. Of course, I live in San Diego, where it's usually sunny at the beach, so it could just be that I find a foggy beach unusual and therefore intriguing. Posted by MarkDM on July 12, 2006 12:16 AMvery well composed with the small footprints walking off into the upper part of the image! Posted by david kleinert on July 12, 2006 2:48 AMI love the muted, soft colours and the overall glow that the mist give the shot. Superb composition as usual. Posted by Steve W on July 12, 2006 7:45 AMExcellent shot, very calming... Posted by Craig Wilsons Photoblog on July 12, 2006 7:47 AMLovely lighting and good composition. I wonder if it would have been even stronger if you'd got down just a bit lower to give a little more emphasis to the footprint trail? Posted by Simon C on July 12, 2006 9:04 AMBeautiful shot. Makes one feel as though they are there. How did you manage to get that sweet child to sit so still for it? Posted by Motina on July 12, 2006 11:21 AMBeautiful! Posted by Joe on July 12, 2006 12:48 PMBeautiful composition. The prints of step naturally guide the glance towards the child. Very soft shot. Posted by claude on July 12, 2006 1:42 PMthat's a nice shot! as usual of course.... Posted by Ash on July 12, 2006 4:13 PMWhat a great shot. Might be one of my favorites of yours. I wouldn't mind a foggy beach. Ours get a little hot down here in Alabama. Posted by Richard on July 12, 2006 5:23 PMgreat! Very powerful image. Posted by Jonathan on July 12, 2006 7:51 PMKathleen: God I love your photography! I just went back through the past week or so - LOVE the recent pictures of the farmland and blue skies and your friend Jakey. You are one of my photographic idols! Keep it up! Posted by Jesse on July 12, 2006 10:39 PMGreat shot. I love the softness. Posted by Paxton Prints on July 12, 2006 11:40 PMOh, I'm crying! Superb. Posted by Jon on July 13, 2006 2:53 AMFabulous photograph - an instant favourite. I just love how much the little one stands out against the white foggy background. Wonderful. And best wishes for your exhibit! Posted by Daniel Seguin on July 13, 2006 9:12 AMWhat a great shot, I really love the colours. Posted by frans on July 13, 2006 3:45 PMLove the lightness of the colors and the composition. Captures the mood perfectly. Posted by chiara on July 13, 2006 4:50 PMHey, I just stubbed my toe, and sniffed some glue by accident! So now I'm crying and flying too! Nice shot Kathleen. :D Posted by miklos on July 13, 2006 9:05 PMabsolutely beautiful composition. (normally 30+ comments already saying what i wanted to say keeps me from commenting at all, but it bears repeating here i think.) lovely photo! Posted by paolo on July 14, 2006 3:25 AMcalm and peace. just what i am looking for now-a-days :) Posted by aashish on July 16, 2006 1:06 PMSimply beautiful - wonderful composition. Posted by LwS on July 17, 2006 5:05 AMI like this photo for the pastel transition of the forground, where it still looks like a photograph to the background plane where it looks like a pastel painting. Posted by D on July 21, 2006 5:45 AMWish I could have come ans see the prints. Very nice work... Posted by Bonav on July 22, 2006 9:21 AMgreat! Posted by ukraine girl on August 15, 2006 2:07 PMThis is by far my favorite photograph that I have seen you produce, beautiful use of limited colors. From one photographer to another; simply amazing.
