Jester in the Church Field
PHOTOGRAPH INFO This photograph was shot a couple of weeks ago when the sun was still around. I'll hold off from describing what was going on and let your imaginations have some fun with it. We're having a LOT of rain here in the mid-Atlantic region of the U.S. It seems crazy but we're about to have the worst flooding along the Delaware River since the late 1800s, according to tonight's 11 o'clock news broadcast. If that's the case, this will be the THIRD 50-year flood in less than 20 months in this area. I'll be posting pictures later in the week although I can't say I'm looking forward to the opportunity. More later... Post-processing: Post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D Thank you for visiting Durham Township! --Kathleen Comments
The rain has honestly been out of control. I can't remember a dry day in weeks. I love the silhouette, and those cloud formations are beautiful. Posted by Justin Gaynor on June 28, 2006 1:11 AMThis is a great image along with all your other work. I have also been experimenting recently with different methods for converting to black and white. So far the gradient map technique is my favorite along with another technique by Greg Gorman. He describes his method on his website. Keep up the great work! Posted by Jonathan on June 28, 2006 2:19 AMwell, i really enjoy your shots every day,and you are so imperssing every time, but im not into this shot today, i mean, this photo is GREAT but maybe not for me. its maybe cause im a color freak and i really love how you process your color photos. I hope that you undestand that this is not bad critic for your photographies. i love your work. take care and have lovely wednesday :) Posted by bruno on June 28, 2006 4:28 AMBeautiful photo, like almost every photo you happily share with us... A rather surreal photo! like the mass of sky in this shot! really work ;) especially because of the wide nature and slight curve to it all... gotta love circular polarizers :D Posted by JD on June 28, 2006 6:50 AMBeautiful photo. The flooding is out of control. My friends who live along the Susquehanna have been prepared to evacuate since last night. So far they are OK. I am waiting for them to call if they need a place to go, but we might not be much better here either if the weather keeps up this way. The river is 1 block form my home, but knock on wood, we've never had a problem even when other areas of town further from the river have been under water. We will see how it goes. Posted by Laurie on June 28, 2006 9:03 AMReally amazing high-contrast shot. It reminds me of the Fool On the Hill by The Beatles. No offence meant to Jester, of course. Posted by PlasticTV on June 28, 2006 1:02 PMThe dark figure, stark setting and color treatment give it a menacing feel. I like it. Posted by Robert on June 28, 2006 1:24 PMBeautiful B&W image!! I like this. :-) Posted by tetsu on June 29, 2006 4:04 AMI was out shooting the various floods for The Morning Call the other day and it's beyond terrible. Houses are completely submerged. I was reading that it's getting really bad in Durham. Good luck with photographing in the mess. It's kind of hard to get around when all the roads are under feet of water =) Posted by Chris Ferenzi on June 29, 2006 10:58 AMLove the contrast, the backlighting makes for a great composition. Posted by chiara on June 29, 2006 4:59 PMYour latest couple of entry's caught my attention even more then usualy. This is mostly because of the B&W. Interesting and (offcourse) beautifull shots. The contrasts are outstanding. A nice inside-look of the American country life! Posted by javga on June 30, 2006 1:25 AMAs often there is not much new I can add : yes, I agree with all the comments that detail the outstandingness of this photo (and the previous ones) ! For me, living in the polders of Flanders (Belgium, Europe) the human profile is like a scarecrow and not an average one :-) Posted by Hildegarde on June 30, 2006 4:23 PMYour photographs never cease to amaze me and some of them leave me speechless! I keep coming back for more because I like what I see. Posted by Natalie on June 30, 2006 7:42 PMLove your collected photos! Great work. Makes me feel that I have visited America Posted by Herry Lawford on July 1, 2006 8:12 AMhttp://www.ringtones-rate.com/mp3/ ringtones site.
