Lifting Fog, Manfred's Fields
PHOTOGRAPH INFO This photograph was taken last week on one of those delicious mornings when the Delaware River fog blankets Durham Township and then slowly burns off over the course of two hours as the sun rises. Manfred is my neighbor; these are his fields. Manfred's grandson Freddy planted the corn in the upper and lower fields a few weeks ago and it's coming along nicely. Post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D Thank you for visiting Durham Township! --Kathleen Comments
Nice shot. I see you used the 80mm instead of your 17mm. Did the wide angle diminish the fog too much? Posted by Ted on June 16, 2006 9:17 PMYour work refreshes my soul. Posted by Grosse Pointer on June 16, 2006 9:41 PMFog shots are among my favorites, and this is lovely. It's a warm shot even with the fog. Posted by Laurie on June 16, 2006 11:14 PMJust gorgeous. I love this one. Posted by Jennifer on June 17, 2006 1:38 AMFog adds a lot to the final mood of the photo... Nice composition! Oh, just lovely. So relaxing. Can't wait for the corn :) Posted by Noreen on June 17, 2006 8:57 AMWonderful moody image. Posted by KPK on June 17, 2006 9:49 AMPerfect. Posted by Don guss on June 17, 2006 11:37 PMBeautiful photo, the light and fog go so well together. Really sets the mood nicely Posted by Eric on June 18, 2006 12:39 AMLove the colours as always! but im kinda glad to see some poorer weather in your shots! I'm usually so jealouse of those great blue skys that you have!!! I know its not like that all the time tho :) Great work in capturing the moment... would look much spookier in black and white! but I'm glad you didn't go that way :D Posted by JD on June 18, 2006 6:37 AMgreat view. love the shadows and the fog. stunning landscape. Posted by shaped on June 18, 2006 5:20 PMman..this shot makes me wanna move to your town ..such open space and so darn beautiful landscape. I remember the good old days when I used to plant corn/rice and wheat..oh wow seems like ages ago. good work! Posted by raja on June 18, 2006 8:31 PMThanks, everyone. Ted: I used the 70-300 because I liked the composition better at that focal length, although you're right, too: the wide angle would've diminished the fog and therefore the whole scene. Posted by Kathleen on June 19, 2006 6:23 AMBeautiful shot! Did you need to make 2 exposures and combine; one for the sky and one for the ground? Posted by Howard on June 19, 2006 3:06 PMMmmm...I need a vacation. This makes me want to go home. Posted by Serena on June 19, 2006 5:10 PMSimple and beautiful landscape, the fading tones, the fog far away, I like it a lot. Posted by Luisa on June 22, 2006 8:00 PMThe light is just perfect here. Beautiful landscape. Posted by Photo Traces on October 16, 2006 6:46 PMSpeak!
