Miki and the Loons on Lake Ontario

PHOTOGRAPH INFO

This photograph was taken yesterday at Bluffer's Park in Scarborough, Ontario, a suburb of Toronto. I returned this afternoon from the International Photobloggers Meetup which took place in Toronto over the weekend -- and what a lovely time it was thanks to the grand efforts of organizer Rannie Turingan of photojunkie.ca. Thank you, Rannie! :)

A good-sized group of us took a trip to Bluffer's Park yesterday afternoon, including Miklos Bacso of osenoa.com, the subject of the photo. Miki was a good sport to pose for me on the rocks for a few minutes, just as a flock of Common Loons flew by. Loons are the provincial bird of Ontario.

It surprised me to see that the water in Lake Ontario looks very similar to the Carribbean!

Post-processing: Shot with the Canon EOS 5D and the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L lens at 24mm with circular polarizing filter, ISO 100, shutter speed 1/320s and aperture f/5. Multiple curves adjustment for contrast/saturation, color balancing for tone, overall desaturation.

Thank you for visiting Durham Township - by way of Ontario! :)

This is a lovely shot, made more special by the inclusion of the birds and the flowing line of the flight pattern.

it reminds me of irish sea and blackpool, so there is a sentimental touch to this photo :)

Atmospheric shot with perfect timing regarding the birds in the sky – Great and emotional!

This is a lovely shot. What a beautiful spot.

It sounds like a wonderful trip, and event.

The desaturation works well with the overcast sky. It seems natural for the image, and not over processed.

If it wasn't for all that mud, we would've climbed the cliff for sure Kathleen.

Hey, Kirk - thanks for the heads up on that! :)

Here's the shot Smallest Photo is talking about, which gives new meaning to my photo's title:

Most of all, I like these shots, which colors are only slightly different to the natural ones – or exactly the same. And so I love "Miki and the Loons" – for its purity, space and air. Regards.
